The collection documents a small portion of the personal life and professional activities of Dr. Neumann. There is a short biographical sketch and a reminiscence from 1979. The small amount of correspondence primarily consists of condolence letters to his wife. There are two folders of Dr. Neumann's reprints (1883-1930), a portrait, and two miscellaneous collations of medical manuscripts with an Army Medical Library stamp. The final item is a presentation copy of George M. Kober's reminiscences, with an inscription by Kober, dated 1930.

Felix Neumann was born in Konigsburg, Germany in 1858 where he began his professional career as a journalist. In 1886 he came to America and became involved in the book trade. In 1900 he went to the Library of Congress and in 1908 to the Army Medical Library. He received an honorary doctorate from Georgetown University in 1931 and retired from federal service in 1932.
